None of us thought it would happen. We'd given up hope for anything other than greenery. Yet, after being dormant for 20+ years, I find these blooms.
This crape myrtle was bought from Louisiana at least 22 years ago. It was before my father died, so I was about 6 or 7. I remember driving home from our cousin's with them carefully wrapped for the journey. It was the year I broke my arm falling off a horse named Domino (a really big horse).
And now it's given a beautiful surprise - and a reminder that no matter how long it takes, it's always possible.
